I do for soft hackles. For the most part Pearsall's is
the brand you want to get your hands on although there
might be others out there. Gossamer silk works as a
tying thread and the floss (Marabou Floss I think is
what it's called) is great for steelhead/salmon flies,
although not inexpensive. Also check with any sewing
shops in your area. I went to one by me and bought 
about 35 spools of Corticelli size A in about 7
different colors for about $1.50/spool, which was a
steal as they are all 100 yard spools.
