I agree.  While you were just being yourselves and not meaning to be anything but the playful and fun bunch we all love, it might have scared off a potential tying/fishing buddy.  I remember being a nasty somebody some years back on another list (you Splinta?).  My first post as a newbie was reprimanded and I might not have met many of you since I wouldn't have met Byard and heard about his new VFB.

Not everyone understands lists.  Heck, I'm confused over which fly pattern to use during most hatches because there are nuances between say a thorax, parachute or traditionally tied one or a shade difference between streams.

So, ya'll keep havin fun and learning/teaching each other but be kind to newbies until you know them a bit more.  They might be a valuable part of the list someday.
