Hi Alan, Tom Thumb a great fly, always got some. Ralph Shaw in 'The Gilly" edited by Alfred G. Davy has it in use since the 40's. He says that he has some of that vintage from Hardy Brothers but no credit is given to a tyer. Some more history on it in Arthur Lingren's "Fly Patterns of British Columbia. Apparently around 1950 a California dentist visiting the Jasper area was using the fly and past it on to Collie Peacock. Peacock unfortunately forgot the dentists name but not the fly. Story goes he's responsible for the current name but never claimed to be its originator. Wonder who?
