In looking at various patterns for weighted flies I see a lot of Bar-Bell eyed recipes. If one was to use a modified Jig mold and cast the head with a straight hook instead of a Jig Hook wouldn't it have the same affect ? I'm talking 1/16 Th OZ and 1/8 Th Oz heads with a slightly longer shanked hook. Then use these hooks to tie deep weighted patterns for walleye, bass and deeper trout. in a 1/32nd OZ they could be used in place of a Bead head Nymph pattern ?
Second question, what hazards are there from casting these bad boys ? Any tips or special techniques in getting them to cast well ? Thanks and thinking, Jimi
