I'd be curious to know what kind of line, rod and technique was used. Are
there any stats for "stock" line and "stock" rods by weight? For example how
far might one of these guys cast a 5 weight GLX rigged up with say a
Scientific Angler's Ultra IV WF line?

Another thought... I seem to be able to cast a lot farther in my back yard
than on the water. My back yard is 100 ft long, and I can regularly hit the
opposite fence with a bit of yard on the line... a 90 foot cast since I
haven't been counting the length of the leader. But when I'm out on a river
or on my pontoon boat, it seems a lot harder to get that distance. I wonder
why? Weight of water on the line? Or is it just me getting too excited
about the fishing and forcing the cast? Any opinions?
