Hi John,

I understand the nature of lists is rather ephemeral.... I belong to the cane rod list, a mini-lathe list, and a whole host of other work and non-work related lists. The chat and banter, along with other stuff is what I really enjoy about most mailing lists. I always seem to pick up or learn something from most posts, even if they are completely off topic from the original intent of the list. Usually, when I first join a list, I tend to lurk about for a while, so I can pick up on the flavor of the posts and posters. I haven't seen much of that here yet, unless I wish to be a salt water, retiree, or pet hair swapee. I filter all my messages coming in so that I don't have to read all messages, put every once in a while I'll rip through the posts, just in case there's something added into the post that I may miss normally.

hang on. The "texture" of the list seems to change on
a regular but unpredictable basis. For a while, it's
all chat and banter (nothing wrong with that), then
it'll be mostly swap messages and updates and then
almost totally about technical flyfishing and tying
information from some of the most knowledgeable people
in the world. Just exercise your right to delete <G>.
Another thing you can do is start a thread on a
practical matter you have a question or interest
about.
