Tom, thanks a lot for the link. Found the time to go through the information. I will stay with the beer. They say, that the filter will remove bacteria but not viruses. Viruses are much more larger than heavy metal ions and similar toxic materials. I guess it is save to use if you want to clean water from a regular river, but using it to filter water from the Rhine. brrrrrrr....
