Stephen, don't feel like the "Lone Ranger". Most of us past the age of
forty-five have eyesight problems develope. First time I noticed it was
when I was under the dash of one of my classic mustangs, trying to put a
fuse in. Couldn't focus. Went to eye doc and was told that I needed
glasses for my up-close work. I'm far sighted. Can read a newspaper
laying flat on the floor while I'm standing up.

Fortunately, I have the same prescription for both eyes - 2.0
magnification, so plain reading glasses work for me on several applications.

Here's what I do for the various types of close work I do:

1. 3.0 magnification clip-on flip up magnifiers for when I'm on stream,
or 3.0 flip up magnifiers that
clip onto the bill of my cap. I'm able to wear my polaroids with
either kind.

2. 2.0 reading glasses, (store bought-optomitrist says they're ok), for
computer work. 2.0 is just right
for the distance from my eyes to monitor.

3. 2.0 prescription ground, with executive lens, (2.0 magnification on
bottom and clear lens on top) for when I read and watch
televison or am working at my desk on a story, etc. and need to get up
and go get something. Don't have to take them off, since I'll be
looking through the
non-prescription part of the lens then.

4. 3.0 prescription ground full reading glasses from my Optomitrist for
fly tying. Focal distance to my
fly tying vice is just right.

I know this sounds like a lot of glasses, but believe me, it works for
me and I do not get any headaches from using any of them. Again, I'm
blessed with having the same prescription for
both eyes.

Cheers,

JIMMY
