Can you elaborate on the "Rubbermaid" stripping basket ? Dimensions ?
Sounds like it could be found locally.

I use the Airflo shooting head system...I have the intermediate head, a 3
ft/sec sinking head, and a 7 ft/sec sinking head. I use this primarily for
saltwater. It really makes a difference in attainable distance. There is a
neat little learning curve with the casting process (this might not be such
a big deal to those who are experienced with casting sinking lines...I was
coming straight from 4 and 5 wt floating lines.)
Get a stripping basket. I made a simple one out of an old Rubbermaid
tub...cut some holes in it to allow water drainage (I'm fishing in the
surf). There are some commercial baskets out there that are MUCH more
expensive than a Rubbermaid tub...some of these have small cones or nipples
that help keep the line from getting tangled. This really helps.
Just my thoughts...I am by no means an expert on the subject.
