Four "mea culpas" and five "I never meant my remarks to harpoon you or to offend you." All I was trying to do was "tell it like the book says". What I said was the opinion of the writer that I quoted, although I did agree with him.. I'm entitled to do that just like you're entitled to express your opinion, and I appreciate that. However, you threw a few very sharp harpoons at me in the Email below. After a 36 year career as a Professional Scouter, I've developed a very thick skin, and will simply let the harpoons bounce off.
Yes, I fish because my Dad taught me and I'm very appreciative that he did. He's been gone 27 years now, but I still remember very vividly that first bluegill I caught on a little bamboo fly rod that Dad gave me and whilst he was in the boat with me that great day, saying "Atta Boy, Jimbo".
I'm glad you've elected to stay on the list. Healthy and sometimes a little "heated" discussion is what makes this list attractive. I count the day a total loss "fishingwise" if I don't learn something from fellow VFB'ers.
Again, I'm sorry that you took my remarks the wrong way. If you want to talk further, please Email me Off List. I'd enjoy getting to know you better. We just might have something in common except fly fishing. I'm not such a bad guy.
Cheers,
JIMMY
