I'd rather protect my investment in materials then worry about having the fish notice the scent of the moth balls. Besides..if you want to get rid of the smell of moth Balls, Head Cement, Epoxy, dubbing wax..pretty much any smell your fly might carry just stick the fly in a chunk of foam & set it where the heat of the Sun can get at it. Not directly in the Sunlight for long periods of time, but someplace where the sun's warmth can get at it for afew hours.   I found out about this by accident, I thought the glue would dry abit faster with more warmth on it. So I placed the foam chunk in the window sill & left for afew hours. When I retrieved it not only had the glue set up faster, but I couldn't smell the Fleximent cement I had secured the Cactus Chenille body in place with... I've been know to set the Foam chunk with assorted Surf Flies I've completed on the dashboard of my truck to assist in the Glue drying process on the way to the Beach for a Surf flyfishing Session.. It does seem to defeat the scent situation. I've also noticed that i can remove scents from various flies by simply washing them off under warm water coming out of the Faucet..careful with red Marabou or Deerhair...red tends to Bleed in warmwater..                   DEAN....  John Martinez <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>wrote: Bob- I have to agree with you on this point, with apologies to Mel.
