Hi Mike
Try using a piece of braided dackron backing or braided monofiliament. Slide it
over the needle give it a coat of fleximent then assemble the desired extended
body over the braided core. Another method I have used is to take a piece of foam
the approximate size I need for the body. Thread a very fine needdle with fine
monofiliament and insert the needle length wise through the foam body pulling the
mono through. This forms the tails of the fly. I will put a drop of head cement
on the mono as I pull it through the foam to cement it inside the foam. The foam
can be trimed with siccors to give it a taper. I then tie it to the hook, add a
wing and hackle as desired and the fly is complete. If you can't find foam in the
desired colour use white or light coloured foam and colour it with a pantone
marker.Hope this is of some help
