Del,   You posted this as "a question for the pros." but I'm going to answer anyway. Mine would have to be spun deer hair, I can't seem to get this stuff right for the life of me. And when I am lucky enough to get this stuff onto the hook by the time I trim it it looks like something the cat coughed up. They either fall apart, are so ugly they are scary, or they sink like rocks. So I buy (shudder) most of my dries.        Not being able to afford the right hackles don't help though either.        I can do E.H.C.'s and other hair wing flies though well enough to fish.
