Don that Herter's book was all I had to go by when
I started tying. I use genetic hackle it is the most cost effective way to
go. The style I tye is because most of the time that is what the trout
seem to prefer. The trimming I do is either to cause the fly to rest in
the film or to force a fly to land in the upright position. The technique
I use to wind full collar flys cause a twist to even out the hackle & give
an impression in the film that is more like a mayflys foot print. Most of
the duns that I fish are usually parachutes.
