I was gone from my computer and returned to find the usual hundred or so messages, with a large majority dealing with ongoing swaps.
I hosted a few swaps myself, and always created my own mailing list of swap participants so I could send swap updates off list. I encouraged swap members to use the same list if they wanted to talk with others in the swap.
IMHO most of us are only interested in reading questions about the status and mechanics of a swap if we are in it. The rest of us simply delete the messages.
I don't know exactly where I am going with this... I know that swapping is certainly a big part of what we do on VFB... but may I suggest that swappers consider swap related e-mail and ask "Will this be of interest to the majority on the list?" The discussions about Hoffman feathers is example of wonderful information resulting from a swap... bring it on! But questions to the swapmeister about the status of the swap, kudo's, thanks, etc. might best be given off list.
Just a thought.
Now back to lurking and deleteing....
