[VFB] Finished fly head

I have noticed from pattern books, that some flies, mostly wet ones, have such neat and glossy heads on them.  The heads are no bigger than normal, but they are so smooth and glossy.  I suspect that epoxy has been applied. Is that for photographic purposes only?  Let's say the tier is tying 25 flies.  Does that mean that all flies are tied THEN the epoxy is added?  Or is there some sort of head cement that I am missing out on?  The cement I use penetrates really well, locks the thread down tight - but does not achieve that glossy look. Any insights to this? Doug
