Ahh, ahh, ahh...sure a foam spider is a fly. Myself, I didn't make a distinction between a fly tied with synthetic or natural materials or both. Just that to me, even though technically all flies are lures since they are artificial, some lures are flies and some are not. To be honest, even though I've been racking my brain, I can't come up with what distinguishes a fly from a lure or when that line is crossed. Like art, I know it when I see it. And yes, to me, a balsa wood bass popper is a lure even when tossed with a flyrod, but a deer hair popper is a fly.

I guess that I am a rebel then because I have a couple of flies like the ones with the spinner0blades off the back and I have made one like a "Road Runner".

Would foam poppers be OK?

Guess the foam spider I sent you is not a fly?

Stirring the pot a little.
