Ditto - I have had 2 canoes - one was the easiest handling canoe I've ever
seen. It was a 17' Ouachita aluminum with keel. But HEAVY! Loved it.

After my first knee replacement, had to go to a lighter canoe to get
somewhere near my 50 lb. lifting limit and got an Old Towne Camper
(Royalex). It was flat-bottomed. Stable as all get-out. Had it in some
pretty big winds and never had a problem. And I loved it, too.

The wasn't as "slick" in the water as the Ouachita, though. You could
really accelerate easier in the much heavier canoe. I think the Ouachita
may have been more narrow than the Old Towne, which is probably what made
the difference.
