Byard, your Grand Laker is one beautiful canoe. If it was mine, I'd never put it in the water. Hang it on my Den wall, yes, but in reality "She" needs to be in a Museum. I'd worry myself sick about busting a "rib" or other piece of that exquisite framework. Is that Spruce or Fir?

James...

You'd have to have some mighty sturdy hangers for your den...;^) This craft, she needs the water...every time I go to the barn I get a sad feeling because it has been so long since she has creased the waves.

She's an exquisite piece of New England craftsmanship. A combination of Western red cedar and native Maine white cedar. Interior ribs are all birch. The Mahogany rails extend uninterrupted the full 20 foot length. The rear seat and the thwarts are beautiful birds-eye maple and the bow deck and transom are solid mahogany. This gem really belongs in the living room...;^)

Not to worry about frailty...she's designed to take on the nasty and turbulent New England lakes!
