To tandem-fly tiers and toothy critter flyfishers,

Just received a package today from Tyger Leader Co. Anyone familiar with
these leaders? I got a sample a year ago and used it in Baja and liked it.
It's a 7-strand stainless steel nylon-coated leader that is flexible enough
to tie knots in it. It's very fine for it's strength and has low memory
compared to other leaders. So far I've used the 120lb to furl a tandem
trailer hook on a marlin fly and I tried my favorite knot setup with the 15#
test. Both worked very well. The 10# leader that I used in Baja didn't get
tested very harshly, as dorado are not too toothy. Need field test
volunteers.

If anyone has a specific need and would like to try some, let me know. Send
me a self-addressed stamped envelope and the #tests you need. I didn't get
a ton of it, so this is just for freebie trials, not stocking for a year's
fishing. It's not cheap stuff, ranging from $17 to $42 ea. for the spools I
received, which makes it from 50 cents/foot to a little over a buck a foot
for the big stuff. Fifty cents is not a big investment to save a $5. fly
from getting bitten off. And a dollar+ a foot for the 120# stuff is
nothing compared to the overall costs when billfishing.

If there is enough interest, I can try to buy it in bulk and we could have a
leader-swap like the Co-op swap, and get the cost down, as packaging adds a
lot to the cost. This should be great stuff for pike and saltwater fishers,
but I'd like to have it tested in the field first before I back it.

Mr. Don Johnson, Sir- I had you specially in mind when I ordered this stuff
so you could add it to your furled leader article.

Ginger Allen, if you're still here...have you tried this out yet? Please
let me know. The 5# test would be great for spanish mackeral and the 15#
test for kings and cudas.

I got 6- 30' spools:

.010, 5 lb test
.014, 15 lb test
.019, 30 lb test
.024, 50 lb test
.030, 70 lb test
.037, 120 lb test

So if anyone is interested, all it's gonna cost is postage. I'll let you
know if the size you want has run out. And I didn't even invent this stuff.
