One trick with the wings on stone flies....   If you're using a pheasant feather for the wings.. first put a light coat of Daves Fleximent on the feather.  You can then fold the wing on your bodkin with out it falling apart.  Makes very nice folded stone fly wings.  Even if you cut the wings to shape this will help them be more durable.  You can get ringneck pheasant feathers dyed black if you search around.

Subject: [VFB] black stonefly pattern?

I'm looking for patterns to fish the Androscoggin next June.
Does anyone have a pattern list for this river?
I heard that black stone flies are popular. Does anyone have a simple easy to tie pattern for them? OK how about the most effective pattern for them.

thanks,
