I remember trying to tie squirrel-tail halfbacks about 20 years ago, and how slippery the hair was when trying to cinch it down. Thread strong enough to crimp/compress the hair must be used, kevlar at a minimum. I remember also how stiff the hair was and that it didn't want to make the 180 degree turn very well to form a bullet or a wing-case. I also remember coming to the conclusion that there had to be a better material for what I was trying to accomplish.
Hope this helps, DonO ----- Original Message ----- From: "Marguerite" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Wednesday, January 29, 2003 9:57 PM Subject: [VFB] Slippery Squirrel tail heads? > Hi Gang: What tricks or suggestions do you have for tying a reverse hair wing > on a steelhead fly of slippery squirrel tail?
