This is why this feather has sat in my bouquet...  I have no clue.  I think I can use it for a sub for the Scarlet Macaw since for the most part it's red.  That's what I intended to do with it.  Oh well....  It's beautiful and it was free.  A donation to the cause from a friends girlfriends bird....   (a friend of a friend of a friend but it was a nice donation).   :0)

Subject: Re: [VFB] Re: Macaw Tail Feather identification

Deb,

The scarlet macaw and the greenwing macaw both have blue and red in their tail feathers. The catalina and the harelquin macaws are both hybrids, catalina from the blue & gold crossed with a scarlet, and the harelquin from a greenwing crossed with a blue & gold. As a result, both of the birds can also have red and blue in their tail feathers. Good luck.

As I was sorting through my feather bouquet I found
a center tail to some kind of Macaw. Problem is I have no idea which
one.... The back side is totally red and the front is mostly red all
the way to the top which is blue. It also has some blue at the base near
the stem. Anybody know the identity of this Macaw?

Thanks,

Deb
