i also have done the same as you . what i did was slide 4
beads on then tied on tail and hackle i then wrapped the thread over each bead
until i got to the front bead i then palmered the hackle forward untill i got
to the front bead i wrapped the hackle a couple more turns behind the front
bead tied off hackle and then i pushed bead back tight against
hackle wrapped thread over front bead and whipped a head and i must say they
look quite well i can hardly see the thread over the beads i used purple beads
for body and pink for egg , i cant wait to try them on steelies and silver
salmon now if they stay in tackt while mean ol mister fish bites on them i ll
be doing good

I recently bought some plastic beads at a craft
store -- orange and pink and red ones -- the shiny kind kids use
for making necklaces etc -- I thought they'd be great for tying egg sucking
leeches because I wouldn't have to wind orange or pink chenile on the
front of the hook -- I could just slip a bead on -- not only would they look
great, but they'd save me some time and effort too.
However, when I got home I found out that the
hole in the bead was too big -- they slid right over the hook
eye.
I'm looking for suggestions on how to keep
them from sliding over the hook eye -- something simple and not time
consuming -- otherwise I might just as well
go back to winding chenile on the head instead of beads. I can go
to a fly shop and buy metal beads especially made for tying egg sucking
leeches -- but they are expensive too. I thought by buying the plastic
ones I'd save tons of money in the long run.
