If I might offer up a recommendation: try a Swiss cold water process
brewer. It's really a simple device, basically a container to hold a
pound or so of finely fresh ground coffee. In the bottom there is a
hole plugged by a rubber stopper, and separating it from the coffee is
a heavy felt filter that fits into a recess.
You put the ground coffee in, fill the container with water, and leave
it sit overnight. Then you pull the plug and drain the filtered coffee
concentrate into a couple of canning jars for the refrigerator.
Making a cup of coffee is as simple as putting some concentrate into a
cup and adding hot water. Hard to beat the convenience.
It makes the richest, smoothest cup of coff e imaginable. You can even
turn grocery store pig slop into something that tastes like $9/pound
coffee. You can vary the strength just by increasing the proportion of
concentrate to water. In a desperate situation, you can also
administer intravenously. *g*
A huge benefit to this process is that a pint to quart container of
concentrate will make superb coffee for an entire camping trip.
