Use a 4' length of 10 or 12 # test Mono and 12 to 18" of 5 # test tippet.
That would suffice for all of my bass fishing. You might also try adding another
5# test length of mono to the bend of the hook on the bug and add a streamer or
nymph.
This brought me a lot of double hook ups. Not hard at all to cast. As I mentioned
in another post, I used a  6 wt ( 9' graphite) rod. I have a 7, 8 and 9 wt
costume rods that I plan on letting go in the near future. I fish a 5 wt bamboo
now for Bass.
