I found that if I used a tapered leader or a leader much longer than 5' I could
not get the bug to turn over like I wanted to.
That could also be my casting style, it don't mean it won't work for another
caster.
I also found that heavier leader turned the bug better than a lighter leader but
as I said I used a bug and a trailer 99% of the time I fish for bass. It seemed
that 10 lb mono 3 to 4' long worked the best for me. I would recommend that you
try several different combinations till you find what works best for you.
