I do glue gun eggs on a regular basis. I have a friend who uses a rotary vise to make his eggs, "turning the lathe" balances out the egg. Once he gets the shape he wants, he throws the egg into water. I originally learned how to make them from the flytyersdungeon website, and personaly use that technique..
I have never used the bead method before, but I have done two tone eggs with glue. Basically, you make a little glue egg on the shank, cool with water, then dry. Then you clear coat the little egg with clear glue. Be careful not to completely melt the center egg. If there are ethical problems with calling a glue egg a fly (I have heard that some states may prohibit glue only "flies"??), I have added crystal flash, little pieces of egg yarn, etc. after making the egg. Use glue eggs for egg sucking leeches. Really neat effect! Good luck on your glue work-it is one of those neat frontiers where you can be real creative.
