Ostrich herl in a range of colors and other feathers thaty I run across. I
find more and more things to use for hackles and gills on flies.

When I started tying I bought items like hackle, peacock herl, pheasant
tail, dubbing you know the standard stuff. There are materials that I use
now more often than not, that I would never have thought I would use.
> Qhat I want to do here is have folks pick two materials that they use
regularly now , that they wouldnt have thought of as common items when they
started. Here are my two items. My first item is moose body. I love to
use moose body for tails on adams, brown drakes etc. My other item is
pheasant rump feathers. I have never seen one patch of feathers have so
many different types of feathers with different characteristics . I use my
pheasant rumps mostly for tying jack gartsides sparrow. This was my number
one bluegill fly for 4 years until it was replaced my a fly from a member of
this lists creation.
