KoolAid is a brand name for a powdered flavored drink (mainly for children). The cheapest packs are flavored and colored, but require the addition of sugar for their intended use. (No sugar is used when the stuff is used a dye). Two of its big attactions as a a dye is the inexpensive price and the extremely wide range of colors available. It is also easy to mix colors to get new colors.
