SJ,

Go ahead and wet wade if the water is comfortable enough. My bassin' buddies and I wet wade the Upper Potomac in the summer fly fishing for bass, and there's some pretty sharp rocks and stuff in the river. We get the occasional cut here and there, but no biggy. We just wear wading boots and thick socks, shorts, t-shirt vest and hat. Can't get much lighter than that, unless you're using a lanyard instead of a vest.

I want to go wader-free during the summer because of the heat, but worried because of all the underwater rocks and whatnot which might not be too good. I am basing this on how torn up my waders have become in less than two years of use...they didn't have Kevlar covering of course. But nonetheless, any suggestions on what i can do about hot waders and underwater edges??

dreamin about a stream, a coupla fish, and mebbe a nice sub sandwitch with lemonade...:-)
