I lived in very southern Utah for 20 years. It is extremely
rural and high desert type country. I have hunted lots of
jack rabbits and coyotes at night with a high-powered
spotlight. A friend of mine who still lives there says that
they now have a 48-hour coyote hunt every year sponsored by
one of the big sporting goods stores. His nephew always
participates in this hunt. He has won several times. He
bagged eleven coyotes in a 48-hour hunt one year. He
doesn't use the injured rabbit call any more, he uses the
"barking dog" call. It's male coyote challenging another
male coyote. Apparently it's very effective. Good luck.

Greetings Jimi!
A fishing buddy & patient of mine took me coyote
hunting one time when we lived in Elko, NV. It was a blast.
Jerry was quite proficient at calling them in with the
injurred rabbit calls and the crow decoys. They'ld come
charging right in there, and until they saw you, it was
pretty exciting! Unfortunately, that day I don't think I
could have hit a bull in the ass with a banjo... :-( Jerry
managed to get one with his 25.06. Nevada has some fairly
large coyotes. Good luck with your hunts!
