The best (ease of tying and fishing results) ant pattern I've found is in Kaufmann's Tying Dry Flies book. It's body is dubbing and deer hair pulled over for the back with hackle in the center of the hook and wings.

Hi!
I'm new to this list. Been lurking, reading, and enjoying for a couple
weeks now.
Maybe someone here can help me. I want to tie the ant pattern shown at
http://flytyingworld.com/PagesJ/jlt-ant.htm
It calls for an extended body material called "tube bodiz", which I have
been unable to find anywhere. Does anyone know who sells this stuff? If
not, is there a similar product?
Can you suggest another killer carpenter ant pattern?
Thanks!

Janet
