ROB,
I agree with you...however there is a species of Spiny ray fish
native to California...the Sacremento Perch. the only remaining Spiny
Ray in freshwater on the West Coast..The Glaciers killed off the
others..
I don't understand the logic of Fisheries Management...this is the
Pacific Coast, so we'll try & establish Atlantic Salmon here. Then
over on the East Coast/Great Lakes they had Atlantic Salmon
populations & instead of trying to bring them back from the abbyss
they introduce Pacific Salmon & Steelhead.. Really bizarre how the
train of thought worked on those ideas....
Now it seems we've come full circle & are trying to un-do the
Screw ups we did in the Past. Thought some "Well knows" involved the
re-establishment of Native Species to their Anstral waters are being
2 faced about it.
"Remove Golden Trout from any place they could endanger Yellow
Legged frogs(Thought now they've found out it's Pollution & the like
that are offing the Frogs...they realized that Golden Trout eat
invertabretes..Shit, I could have told you that 10 years ago!!!)" But
when this same person was presented with the Removal of the Browns &
Rainbows in the Truckee River, with the goal being the
Re-introduction of Lahontan Cutthroat thru-out the system..this same
"concerned" didn't want this Re-introduction to go thru... (He is a
Guide on the Truckee & the Truckee is Known as a river you can get a
Big Brown Trout in...go figure).
So yeah, we Humans have managed to screw up damn near every Native
species in their Home waters with the Stupid introduction of
Exotics... Now we have to try to clean up the Mess.....
