Rob & Dean,

This thread reminds me of a recent report I saw regarding the reintroduction of
elk in northern Arkansas. Sounded like a pretty good idea to begin with. In
cooperation with the game department in Colorado, elk were pulled off the
Divide and trucked down to the Buffalo River area. They seem to be doing
pretty well I believe this was started in the late '80s. The kicker though
is that by way of repayment, Arkansas transported a heapin helpin of their
largemouth bass up to Colorado. I suspect these went into the various
impoundments built around the state. I had no idea that the basses were
originally non-native there. I wonder if habitat invasion harming local
species has taken place as a result?
