The one thing you don't want to do is ever anchor a boat by the stern. If a larger boat comes along the wake will swamp you and the boat will sink and you may noit survive either.
I have been in the Coast Guard for 14 years and can't begin to tell you of the number of rescues, sinkings and drownings that have happen because a boat was anchored by the stern. DON'T DO IT !!!
