Sounds good, Rob. Rod holders are OK, but you won't need them as much as you would with a pontoon craft or tube. You can just lay the rod down lengthwise of your 12 footer. Anchors are a must for windy conditions. As to moving the seat, I'd be very careful doing this. You certainly don't want to mess up the balance of the boat. My advice would be to try the seats like they are a few times and then make yourself a portable seat to put in the bow. A small stool would suffice. If this works for you, then by all means move the middle seat to the bow.

From one who has a 12 footer.

I just recieved a 12' powerboat with a 9.9hp engine on it from my brother. Other than having a trolling motor, and a bow cleat for the anchor it has not been modified at all except for seats on the middle bench and the stern bench.

I am thinking about setting it up for flyfishing with rod holders, fly patches, bow and stern anchors. I am thinking about moving the middle bench seat up the bow for better weight distrobution.

I figure that a few of you may have similar boats, and I am interested in your thoughts on setting up a small boat for fly fishing.
