The rod is kind of slow, probably med-fast, but rebounds really well, as in it doesn't offer too much post-movement play. I still use my 2 year old and running Crystal River line but i should get something newer, even though it casts impeccably.

Wes is right.  If you are throwing those flies on that rod with
that line you can cast very well.  An 8 wt Bass bug taper
would easily add another 10 feet and probably 20 feet.

Not all that familiar with that rod. Is that rod a 2nd
generation graphite  (36,000,000 modulus)
The 3rd and 4th gens are considerably faster, but all you need
is the WF line in either a bass bug or a pike taper.  I personally
prefer the SA lines with AST coating.  Slicker than snot.
