no fish beats the mahseer of northern Pakistan and India. Much like the carp, but without the 'sick' habits of the carp and wiht a large-scaled, silvery appearance, it is much liked because it can be taken readily on EVERYTHING: corn, doughballs, plugs, spoons, flies, spinners, chiken liver, and worms and other live bait and much admired because a foot-long mahseer will pound a 6-inch spoon and a 45 pound mahseer will truly do damage if u aren't careful, spooling you being the least of your worries......

PS:(unfortunately, much of traditional mahseer water is too polluted or now has been dammed up, but where it is still accessible (in some parks), a very few monsters still exist, and maybe someday plans will be made to save the species. But those monsters are some of the most amazing and gamest specimens of gamefish that exist in the world. I've seen them when i once went there, and I've also seen 55 lb King makerel being dragged in on a hand line doing some crazy fighting, and i can safely say that no hand-liner can drag in a 55 lb mahseer.)
