I have not fished the Clearwater, but I have fished the Grand Ronde in the same area. You want to hook up with Twin River Anglers in Lewiston, ID (http://www.traflyfish.com/). They are a nice little shop that is quite near the Clearwater. Their website has a ton of information, just for a guy like you. When we fished the Grande Ronde, we fished with NW Standard patterns: Green Butt Skunk, General Practitioner, Skykomish Sunrise and the like. While we did not land a fish on that trip, we connected with many in the 2 days that we were there. Also water temperatures look like surface flies would be good, sofa pillow and bomber are my favorites. Rob -- In my family there was no clear line between religion and fly fishing. Norman Maclean
