In 1994 i bought a brand new Chevy Silvarado Suburban, and used it for travelling witht the bands i worked with until 2001. It's been to just about all the lower 48 states. It has 191K on it now and hasn't really been drivin' a whole lot in the last two years except for fishing. I only use it for fishing now, nothing else. I drove it out to Montana last year and back again, and it held up real well. I'll be taking it with me to Montana again next year. I have taken out the third seat and the middle row hasn't been up for foks to sit on in at least a year and a half. I don't expect it to ever be up again. That space under the second row seat backs (when seats are collapsed) is a great hiding place for rod tubes and such. I have a rod rack stung up in the cealing space that allows for 9 ft. rods to be able to stay permanately strug up in the truck, and it holds seven rods. So, i always have 7 rods strung in the truck with a few more hidden in different places. I keep a fly tying kit and table in the truck, sleeping bags, extra clothes, a reel box full of reels and a tackle bag with all kinds of extra fly boxes full of flies, tools, towels, a changing rug, flash lights, heavy duty jumpers, a charger, batteries, a half dozen different nets, same number of pairs of waders or more, 3/4 pair of wading boots, and on and on. I have a CB radio in there and the cassett deck still works. It works great for me to be able to sleep in there when nessessary also. I do not carry a spare tire, takes up to much room. I buy Michilan tires, BIG heavy duty very good tires and carry a can of "blow up" to get me to a station if ever nessessary, so far it never has been. I retired that truck to nothing but a fishsing truck in 2001 and bought a brand new Chevy Avalanche, which now has 81K on it. Chevy Trucks, YES! mark (willowhead)

After I put out today's quote, I thought it might be fun to query the
list as to what each of you use for your fishing car/truck. I'm sure
this will run the gamut from ragged pick ups and cars to family
cars/trucks to "custom" fishing vehicles and for the rich ones, maybe a
HUMMER. LOL ! I'm just wondering what modifications have you made, if
any, to your fishing vehicle to ease your trip to and from the stream
and your overnight camping while fishing. Mine is a 1996 4-door F350
diesel pick up. I've added a big locking aluminum tool box on the bed,
just behind the rear window. Here I carry a floor jack, 4-way lug
wrench, heavy duty jumper cables, and a 10X12 tarp, just in case it's
needed. Also I have my streamside fly tying kit, a sleeping bag, air
mattress, pop-up dome tent, propane stove, Boy Scout Patrol cook kit, an
extra fuel filter for the truck and an assortment of wrenches, etc. I
also put all my fishing gear that I won't use except my fly rods, which
I store out of sight behind the rear seat. Don't want to run the chance
of having my truck broken into when someone spies my fishing gear, like
what happened to Del Roberts earlier this year.
LEMME HEAR FROM YOU - What's your fishing vehicle ??? Any modifications
???
Have a Great Day

P.S. YES, I'M STILL A PRISONER IN MY OWN HOME - NO DRIVING, RIDING, ETC.
TILL I go see my doc on the 12th. Hopefully he'll clear me to resume my
normal activities. So . . . like I said earlier, I tie flies, manage
the three swaps I'm currently meistering, play on the computer and
lastly aggravate you guys. Hey - a guy's gotta do what he's gotta do!
