I use to fish a lot in the winter, but recently have let the fish alone, and spend the time enjoying my family and tying flies. I try to tie a dozen flies a day, which doesn't sound like much, but works out to over 300 a month and well over a thousand by the time fishing starts. Then in the summer I don't have to tie unless I want to experiment with a new fly. I like fly tying, but not when it cuts into fishing time.

I'll tie a lot of wooly buggers in various sizes and colors, damsel fly nymphs, BHPTs, BHHEs, RS-2s, scuds, parachute, comparadun, hairwing and minimal
mayflies, Renegades, Elk hair caddis, stimulators, foam hoppers and stoneflies, etc. I'll tie 20 of one pattern then switch to another to fight boredom.

I tie some flies. I have a new rod to wrap this year.

This is usually when I do alot of my crocheting also.

This is also when I run my 4 swaps at a time madness.
