Our Rick ought to know.  He's an Optometrist.  He's right, especially where plastic lense sunglasses come in. Most of them do have distortion.  I always make sure the sunglasses I buy have optical quality lenses.  I do this by comparing them to my 25 year old prescription Ray Bans that I keep in Jody's Escalade.

I asked my optomitrist if there was any difference between the cheap and the expensive for the polarized part.  He said no.

I think there is a differnce as some of the cheaper brands have some optical distortions in them.  Try a cheap pair side by side against a more expensive pair.  I thyink you will seee the difference.
