Where were you fishing? I tried the PAX off of Murray Hill two weekends ago, hearing rumors of a fall stocking, and had to come home to try my luck. No trout, but had fun catching Chubs all day on black beatles and Adams parachutes.

I just read Midge Magic by Don Holbrook and Ed Koch. The Yong Special is much like the midges in this book, but the book takes them to the extreme. The authors give a color chart for Coats and Clark and DMC threads and relate them to specific flies and specific hatches. The pictures are great. It really opened a new field for me.
I caught a 12 inch stockie on a size 18 black diamond midge two days ago. It was a real surprise.
