Not Needed on an 8 wt in my opinion. Have made a number of 8 wt's without
them. They are mostly used on boat rods.
If you do wrap under wraps use smaller size thread for the under wrap.
For example, use 2/0 thread for the under wrap and sz A for the over wrap
Reason for this is the thread will leave minute valleys between the wraps.
If you use the same size thread it is hard to get the over wraps to slide
against one another. The thread will get hung up in these valleys.
By using larger thread the thread will not fall in the valleys. Give it a
try on the blank. I think you will be a few hairs less on your head when
you come to the Sowbug.
