I must have missed the first couple of posts on this, but I do my CJ's with colored wire also, red, green, black, gold, silver as well as the traditional copper. Tried twisting two wires together once, but had problems with the wire being stiff and breaking. Think the twisting work hardened it and made it too brittle to wind on.

Colored wire..that's popular stuff for making rubber legged, wire bodied stone flies here..mostly big as in size 14 and 12. Bet it is the same idea as your flies. They are done with and without bead heads. Just goes to show, there is probably nothing new under the sun. Joyce
