Gary, i thought i said you had common sense, ...........j/k. I was referring to state(s) boarder water. That is why i pointed that out. I may have not been to clear. The East Branch is not boarder water. And you do not need a N.Y.C. watershed permit to fish the East Branch below the dam, (the tailwater). You need it only if you want to fish it above the dam and or on the reservoir, Pepacton. I love the East Branch. It's like one huge spring creek, below the dam that is. And actually it IS full of springs, as are both the Willowemoc and the Beaverkill. Both are freestone, but loaded with springs. The only time i fished it (East Branch Delaware) above the reservoir was back in the mid 90's and back then i always had the permit. But, i haven't had one now since probly 1997, something like that. Just don't fish the reservoirs or in Westchester county anymore. In the early and mid 90's i fished the Croton Watershed a lot. Just got on the train in Grand Central, (n.y.c.) and got off at Brewster or any of a couple other stops and walked to the East Branch or the West Branch of the Croton River. Or, we would get a fishing friend who had a car to drive us up and we'd fish the Amawalk and a couple others. All of these streams were/are part of the reservoir system, so you had to have your permit. We've only had a place in the Catskills since 1998. Boy, your trip sure sounds like an adventure. They were talkin' about it in the chat room tonight, lol. Well, here's hopin' you make it up this way someday. Good luck. mark

But you can not fish the east branch without the NY permit. Just the main stem
is either or on permits.
