Folks I have a slight dilemma,
It is fly tying and fishing related. I am right handed. About 3 years
ago, in one of my more "Graceful" moments I took a regularly scheduled fall.
This time I struck my right hand on an old piece of lumbar. When I regained
consciousness I found about a 3" piece, ( large splinter) sticking from the
"Meat" of my right hand where the thumb and index finger gather together,
( hope you can figure where that is). In my haste and out of reflex I
grabbed and removed the piece. Unfortunately I left what is estimated to be
a 1/8th" wide by 3/8" piece buried in the meat about the center. It hasn't
given me much trouble until last week. I took another tumble and attempted
to arrest the fall but failed. In the process I managed to disrupt this
piece and cause it to fester. One small piece, ( about the size of the end
of a toothpick), has come to the surface and been removed. However, the
remainder is causing great difficulty and discomfort. We have no doctor and
the emergency room is not interested. Does anyone out there have a "Home
remedy" that may assist with this problem ?
It does affect my tying and other functions because any grip with that
hand involving the thumb causes great pain. Any suggestions, ( short of
butcher knives and chain saws), would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jimi, ( AKA Capt. Klutz).
