Pull them out, let them thaw for a day (in a ziplock if not already), then freeze again.  This knocks out anything that wasn't killed with the first freezing.

You can also microwave, but my wife objects to me doing that!

If any meat is still on the wings, make sure to borax and scrape well too.

I keep mine stored in ziplocks, usually 2-4 wings/bag.

Living would be easier if men showed as much patience at
home as they do when they're fishing.

Subject: [VFB] cleaning feathers

I believe this has been discussed before but I’m afraid I wasn’t paying much attention. A friend of mine who is a duck hunter recently bagged some and I got a bunch of feathers (mallard drake and hen, teal, gadwaller, and wood duck) and two sets of wings (mallard and teal). For now, they are all in the freezer ( for a week now). What do I need to do to kill any pests and make them usable and safe for tying?

Thanks all,

Jim Collins
