I've had a tube of Overton's since the early 80's, which I like just
fine even though it doesn't get much use. I seldom apply it to the
thread but will occasionally touch it with my index finger. That
tiny amount of tackiness helps spread dubbing along the thread
quickly and evenly.

Over time the wax and rosin tend to separate a little bit and the top
surface gets a little hard. When that happens I've put a light bulb
about three inches away to melt the top surface. This seems to
reconstitute the mixture, which softens considerably after it has
cooled.

When doing touch dubbing for deep and emergent sparkle pupas, the
Loon High Tack works best for me.
